AXIS Q1728 4K UHD Block Network Camera
AXIS Q1728 is a professional 4K UHD block network camera engineered for surveillance applications requiring high image detail, excellent low-light performance and flexible lens coverage in an integrator-friendly block camera format.
Featuring a large 1/1.2" CMOS sensor, the Q1728 captures up to 3840 × 2160 resolution at 50/60 fps. Lightfinder 2.0 enhances visibility and color reproduction in very low light, while Forensic WDR helps preserve important details when bright and dark areas appear within the same scene.
Two configurations are available: AXIS Q1728 02839-001 with a wide 5.9–13.3 mm lens and AXIS Q1728 48 mm 02840-001 with a 15.2–48.7 mm lens for narrower, longer-distance coverage.
Unlike the outdoor-ready Q1728-LE, the Q1728 does not include built-in IR or an outdoor-rated enclosure, making it particularly suitable for indoor installations or integration into an appropriate external housing.

Purpose of Use
The AXIS Q1728 is designed for professional applications where 4K image quality and flexible optical coverage are required without the size or enclosure of a conventional outdoor bullet camera.
Typical applications include:
- High-detail video surveillance
- Wide-area monitoring
- Long-distance observation
- Entrance and exit surveillance
- Warehouse monitoring
- Manufacturing process monitoring
- Transportation facilities
- Security control rooms
- Custom camera installations
- Forensic video recording
- System integrator projects
Which Q1728 Should You Choose?
02839-001 — 5.9–13.3 mm: Better when a wide field of view and broad scene coverage are required.
02840-001 — 15.2–48.7 mm: Better when the camera must observe a smaller or more distant area and a narrower viewing angle is preferred.
Important Operational Notes
✔ No built-in IR: Additional illumination should be considered for applications requiring surveillance in complete darkness.
✔ Not outdoor-ready: The Q1728 does not carry an outdoor-ready designation or specified IP weather-protection rating.
✔ For exposed outdoor installations, use a suitable compatible enclosure or consider the AXIS Q1728-LE.
✔ Select 02839-001 or 02840-001 according to surveillance distance and required field of view.
✔ 4K recording at 50/60 fps can require substantial network bandwidth and storage capacity.
✔ AV1 support should be verified against the intended VMS, browser, decoder and recording infrastructure.
✔ Camera position and lens selection should be planned according to required detection, recognition and identification performance.
✔ Electronic Image Stabilization can help improve usable video where the installation is affected by movement or vibration.
